RCCD's Annual Distinguished Faculty Lecture

RCCD's 52nd Annual Distinguished Faculty Lecture will be held Thursday, May 10, from 12:50 to 1:50 p.m. in the Digital Library & Learning Resources Center Auditorium. This year's lecturer is Jose Duran, Associate Professor of Business Administration, Business & Computer Information Services at Moreno Valley College. His lecture is entitled, "The Janus Approach to Technology's Impact: An Edutaining Perspective." All faculty, staff and students are invited to this free presentation.

RCC Drum Line Wins World Championship!
|

Nearly 200 drum lines from 33 states, 3 Canadian provinces, the Netherlands, England and Japan converged on the University of Dayton, Ohio for the 35th anniversary WGI Championships last week - only one came out with a world class trophy & the third highest score in WGI history: RCC! Performing an emotional & ultimately patriotic show about the inherent sacrifices of war, these busy college entertainers received a standing ovation from the sold out arena's audience, a gold medal and a score of 97.088! Congratulations to the 40 performers (and staff) and thanks to all who shared in our success!

ATHENA Student Leadership Program

RCCD is pleased to offer its 1st ATHENA Student Leadership Program this fall! The ATHENA Student Leadership Program at Riverside Community College District is designed to assist students in developing leadership and career related skills. With a goal of preparing students for leadership in higher education and beyond, the ATHENA Student Leadership Program aims to enhance and strengthen "transferable skills." The Program provides a foundation for students to become confident, aware, and engaged citizens facilitating academic success, civic responsibility, and the opportunity for achieving career goals. This Program is open to all students that meet the following minimum qualifications: have completed at least 12 units, maintain a 2.0 GPA, Fall 2012 enrollment of at least 6 units, and Student Service fees (must be paid in Fall 2012). Each college will have a program coordinated through their Student Activities office. Schedules and program activities may vary from college to college. Applications will be accepted from April 20 to August 3, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. Staff and faculty may nominate students for the ATHENA Student Leadership Program. All nominations must be submitted to Maureen Chavez at maureen.chavez@mvc.edu. Nominated students will be contacted directly by the Program after nominations are submitted. Nominated students must submit the required online application and are not guaranteed acceptance into the Program based on a nomination. RCCD's Leadership Academy Program
|

Applications for RCCD's Leadership Academy Program (LAP) are now being accepted. The Leadership Academy Program is a high powered training program in which participants will be exposed to ideas, critical thinking skills, and coaching techniques that will make a difference as they identify and develop their leadership styles. This year's LAP includes RCCD's Leadership Academies I and II. This is a year-long program scheduled from August 2012 through June 2013 (see 2012/2013 schedule at http://www.mvc.edu/lap/calendar.cfm). LAP requires a commitment to attend and participate in 18 sessions over the academic year. Designed to help participants learn about leading persons effectively through transition and change, develop communication skills, and create and/or polish their characteristics as a leader constructing more credibility in the workplace, RCCD's Leadership Academy Program provides participants the opportunity to build their leadership skills and resources.
Space is limited. Please submit your application package by July 20, 2012 to be considered for this Leadership Academy Program. All employees must have management approval to participate in the Leadership Academy Program. Approval is required upon acceptance into the program. The current application period is now open! The Academy will commence on Friday, August 24 meeting twice monthly on specific Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Program is voluntary and interested participants, whether nominated by management or applying directly, must submit the required application.
